The fourth annual Jim Marsh Classic will be at the Tonopah Speedway for two days of action, starting today and continuing Saturday.
The two-day race will feature the Modified race cars, which are the fastest cars on the track. There is a $1,000 purse for the winner of each night of racing.
The gates open at 5:30 p.m., with racing to start at 7 p.m.
The race is an International Motor Sports Car Association-sanctioned race and is one of the biggest races of its kind in Nevada with about 25 cars from six different states expected to run in the race.
Other classes racing will be Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hobby Stocks and kids’ racing karts.
Pits will open at 3 p.m. for the racers and hot laps will be at 5:30 p.m.
“Last year’s race was a big success and we had some great racing from some of the best IMCA racers in the nation,” Tonopah Racing Association President Jay Silis said.
Prices for spectators for the races are $10 for adults, $5 for kids and seniors and $5 for military personnel.
