BASEBALL Trojans drop extra-inning game

The Pahrump American Legion Trojans have less than 10 games to go in the season. The team is 14-5 and sits in fourth place. They lost to Desert Oasis last night in extra innings, 7-6.

Trojans Coach Brandon Bietar was upset at the way his team played.

“It was a bad game. We led 6-0 in the fourth and had bases loaded with no one out and could not score any more runs,” he said.

In the bottom of the fifth, Desert Oasis scored three runs to make it a game, 6-3. In the sixth inning, they tied and sent the game into overtime. It was 6-6 and went to extra innings.

“It sucks because it was not one of those games that they won, we lost it,” the coach explained. “You can’t just give away outs, you can’t walk people. You have to play solid baseball the entire game and we didn’t. We built up a good lead and just sat on it and did not build on it.”

Bietar discussed what his team needs to do to get to the playoffs.

“We need four to five games to get into the playoffs with seven games left,” Bietar said.

He feels confident his team can do that. The playoffs are the last week of July, from 28-31.

Bietar named Richard Greene player of the game with three hits. Greene played two positions, third and first.
