The Beatty track team was in Pahrump on March 29 and was supposed to attend the Ron Resler Invitational on March 31.
According to Hornets athletic director Leo Verzilli, the team didn’t go to the Resler Invitational because of the high winds.
At Pahrump, the boys took third (52 points) at the Pahrump meet, out of five teams and the girls finished in fifth place (29) out of five teams.
The Pahrump Valley boys were first at 171 points, Chaparral was second (82) and Tonopah was fifth (22). The Pahrump Valley girls finished first (164), second was Chaparral (63) third was Desert Pines (61) and Tonopah was fourth (38).
For the boys in Pahrump, the Hornets finished in the top three in several events. In the 100-meter run, sophomore Yadir Rodriguez took second place (11.4 seconds and a personal best). Rodriguez also took second in the long jump (8 feet, 11.75 inches).
Freshman Jose Granados took first place in the 1,600 meter (4 minutes, 54.7 seconds).
Senior Michael Olson took first in the triple jump (40-02).
The boys also did well in the relays, taking second in the 4×100-meter relay (45.9) with a team composed of Nahum Favela, Michael Olson, Julias Max Taylor and Yadir Rodriguez. The Hornets also took second in the 4×800 (9:55.1) with a team composed of Jose Moreno, Octavio Maldonado, Brandon Rebujio and Jose Granados.
The 4×200 team composed of Jake Ybarra, Nahum Favela, Robby Revert and Michael Olson took third (1:41.8).
The Beatty girls had two individuals who were in the top three.
One individual finisher was Anel Gamboa, who finished third in the 800 (3:08.6) and the other was freshman Adriana Motton who took third in the 100-meter hurdles (19.9 and a personal best).
The girls also did well in the relays, taking second in the 4×100 (1:01.3) with a team composed of Vanessa Gamboa, Seida Gutierrez, Andrea Leon and Jasmine Olson. The girls then took first in the 4×800 (12:20.9) with a team composed of Anel Gamboa, Claudia Granados, Andrea Leon, and Jasmine Pelayo.
