Beatty holds on to defeat Tonopah

Beatty boys basketball holds on to win a close one in Tonopah last Friday night 51-42. Hornets coach Steve Sullivan said that his boys came close to throwing the game away.

“Our past six games our turnovers have been more than our steals,” he said.

Sullivan wants his team to improve in this area. He also said that the team needs to improve in its shooting percentage too.

“We can’t win games turning over the ball and shooting in the 30-40 percent range,” Sullivan said.

Beatty (4-2 overall, 2-0 Division IV Southern) is at Adelson on Thursday with the boys game at 7 p.m. and the girls game at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Hornets edged Tonopah 35-33 to remain 2-0 in league play.

The next home game for Beatty is at Lund on Jan. 22.
