Beatty loses a close one to Sandy Valley

The Beatty Hornets lost a tough game to Sandy Valley on Friday 40-30.

The game came down to who made the most mistakes said Hornets (1-3 overall, 0-2 Division IV Southern) coach James Robertson.

“We had the ball and were driving the ball,” he said. “There was just 4 minutes to go in the game and there was a low snap and we lost possession of the ball. Sandy Valley (3-1, 2-0) took it all the way for a touchdown.”

Robertson had said the team that wins the game will score last and his prediction held up.

“Mistakes beat us,” Robertson said. ” We had three fumbles during the game and got burned on a few passes.

In the game, according to the coach, Beatty had about 250-yards rushing and about 50-yards passing. The rushing leader for the Hornets was Jhonpaul Adujar. He had a 50-yard TD run and over 100-yards rushing.

The Hornets take on Alamo today, who has not lost a game since 2007. The Panthers are the number one team in the league.

“We’ve just got to go forward and play our best,” Robertson said.

The coach said his team needs to win all their games after Friday if they want to make the playoffs this year.
