Desert View Hospital will host its second annual charity golf tournament on March 6 at Mountain Falls Golf Club to benefit the Desert View Hospital Foundation, a non-profit that directly benefits Pahrump residents.
The golf tournament was the brainchild of Kelly Adams, the current CEO of Desert View Hospital. According to Meagan Kowalski, the tournament last year was a complete success with about 100 golfers attending.
“This year we also have over 100 golfers and we still have room for more,” Kowalski said.
According to Desert View, the Desert View Hospital Foundation provides scholarships and other scholastic opportunities to students from Pahrump who are pursuing an education in health care.
Kowalski hopes to set up the scholarships soon with the school district.
“We haven’t awarded any scholarships yet,” Kowalski said. “Last year’s tournament was our first fundraiser for the Foundation. We are currently working with the school district to create guidelines and criteria for the scholarships, and hope to award several within the next year or sooner.”
The tournament is being sponsored by several local businesses, including Integrity Home Health, which is the event’s title sponsor. Other sponsors include Mercy Air, Comfort Hospice Care, Valley Health System, Amerinet, and American First National Bank.
New to the tournament this year is a Hole-in-One contest with a $60,000 cash prize, sponsored by Inspirations Senior Living. There will also be several other contests throughout the day, as well as raffle prizes. Lunch and an awards ceremony will immediately follow the tournament.
Individual golfers can register for $100 as a single, or teams of four can register for $350. All registrations include green fees, golf cart, breakfast and lunch. The DVH Foundation Open Golf Tournament is in scramble format and will kick off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
