Freshmen and sophomores strut their stuff at Centennial

Freshmen and sophomore athletes from the Trojans track team ran at Centennial High School on Saturday for the annual Sunset Frosh-Soph Invitational.

The athletes competed with 17 schools. Ten Division I schools competed, five Division I-A schools, one Division III school and One Division IV school.

Pahrump did especially well in the long distance running and some field events for both boys and girls.

For the boys, freshman Bryce Odegard took first place in the 3,200-meter run (10 minutes, 18.94 seconds), second in the 1,600 (4:44.55) and third in the 800 (2:07.91).

Odegard’s teammate, Layron Sonerholm took seventh in the 800 (2:07.91), and seventh in the 3,200 (10:40.85).

Sophomore sprinter Dylan Montgomery took third in the 110-meter hurdle (16.83 seconds) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.84). He also was second in the triple jump (37 feet, 11 inches).

Sophomore Riley Sutton took sixth in the triple jump (36-3).

In the pole vault Freshman Cole Goodman took sixth (8-6).

Freshman Jeremy Albertson took fifth in the discus (106-0).

For the girls, freshman Sydney Dennis took fourth in the 1,600 (5:44.25) and fourth in the 3,200 (12:44.34).

In the field events, sophomore Caeli Havel placed third (29-0.50). Madison Shay finished fifth in the discus (78-05).

Freshman Annabelle Brophy took seventh in the high jump (4-06).
