Game Day: Trojans vs. Western

The Trojans football team has lost two in a row and seeks to iron some offensive problems out against the worst team in the league, Western.

The Warriors (0-3 overall, 0-1 Sunset League) are winless in three games and are so bad that they have given up 166 points in the last three games. To find the last time Western won a game, one would have to go back to 2012, where the team won a game due to a forfeit.

Pahrump since changing to the 1-A has never lost to the Warriors.

According to Trojans coach Adam Gent, Western runs a multi formation pro set and spread pistol offense.

“Their new head coach, John Norton, was a volunteer assistant coach at UNLV under Mike Sanford and a good man,” Gent said. “I have a lot of respect for him.”

Gent said the Warriors run a 4-3 base defense.

“They have a couple of solid athletes and one receiver I believe who is top 10 in receiving yards,” Gent said. “This is a big week for Trojans football. Our boys know how they have to play to be successful and bring home the victory.”

The Trojans (1-2, 0-1) will not be changing anything for Western.

Running back Tommy Gascoigne, who had 88-yards rushing against Mojave should have a breakout day against the Warriors. Look for him to have close to 200 yards.

The Trojans may turn to running quick vertical patterns up the middle and if they do this it should be good for both Jesse Dillon and Devlin Dillon, who both have speed. Jesse Dillon was held to 21-yards receiving against Mojave. That shouldn’t happen against Western.

Another receiver who had a great day against Mojave was Aaron Fuentes. He is good catching the ball out of the backfield or as a wide receiver. He had 61-yards receiving against Mojave.

Quarterback TJ Milk has had to scramble a lot, but look for him to have a good day too, 200-yards passing.

The game will be a road game that starts at 7 p.m.

The Trojans return home against Clark (2-1, 0-1) at 7 p.m.
