In the past two months, there have been big changes to Mountain Falls Golf Course.
The owners, William Lyons Homes, hired Par 4 Golf Management team to oversee the golf course.
Par 4 already successfully manages Spanish Trail, Silverstone, Badlands and Primm Valley courses in Las Vegas.
Par 4 brought Jason Pomroy from Primm Valley to take over as the new golf professional at Mountain Falls. He managed at Primm for three years.
Pomroy, a one-time PGA pro, has been playing golf since he was 12.
He is from Daytona Beach, Fla., where he played golf in high school. Upon graduation, he attended and played golf for St. Andrews Presbyterian College in North Carolina. At the age of 20 he turned pro.
“It was not a hard decision to become a golf pro, when you realize the kind of guys you are up against on the circuit,” he said. “The guys that are on tour are the best at what they do. I struggled at the end of my career and I wanted to remain in the golf industry. I wanted to come to a golf course every day. That made it an easy decision to leave the tour. I have such a strong passion for this game. I want to see juniors come up and just want to grow this game.”
As the head golf professional, Pomroy is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility.
“I make sure everything is running smoothly and the guests are taken care of,” the golf pro said. “I do lessons on occasion, but my general responsibility is the day-to-day operation. I make sure that customer service is at a very high level. That is my job.”
Pomroy feels a golf course like Mountain Falls needs a good golf pro.
“I was trained how to focus business on golfers,” he said. “We learn different things to help families benefit and utilize this facility. We are competing with little leagues and other recreational sports, but being in the industry you gain knowledge from working at different courses and you learn different ideas from other people in the industry. In the golf community, we might be competing with each other, but in the end we are all here to grow the game.”
The golfer said his management team was excited to be here in Pahrump.
“We plan on doing the same thing we do at our other courses,” he said. “We want to deliver our top-notch service to Pahrump. This is something we take great pride in. We bring the little details that make the customer want to come back and play. That is what we want to bring out to Mountain Falls.”
