The third annual U-Turn for Christ Golf Tournament will be at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9 at Mountain Falls Golf Course.
The proceeds benefit the U-Turn for Christ residential drug and alcohol program, dealing with men and women seeking restoration from drug and alcohol addiction.
Tournament director Gary Bennett said all the proceeds go to the program in Pahrump.
“Every penny stays in Pahrump,” Bennett said.
Bennett wanted to get the word out on the tournament early so people can benefit from the early registration signup special. The normal entry fee is $100 per person.
“If you register before Aug. 10, a foursome will cost $275 and if you register before Sept. 10, the registration is $350,” Bennett said. “Space is limited. My goal this year is to sell out all 36 foursomes. That has never been done before but this year we have sold half of those.”
He said the golfing is low pressure and geared to having fun and so the tournament adopted a scramble format. The basic scramble works like this: with the rules emphasizing fun without the pressure of players keeping individual scores. Each player hits a tee shot on each hole, but everyone plays from the spot of the best shot.
Bennett said all players will be fed too.
“Lunch is included with your fee,” he said. “There will also be contests for hole-in-one, closest to the pin, and longest drive.”
