The Trojans volleyball was at home on Monday against the Mojave Rattlers in a tough match that went five games with the Trojans winning 3-2.
The Trojans improve to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in league play.
Before the game, Trojans Coach Jill Harris said that due to injuries or prior commitments, the varsity team would play a new lineup against Mojave.
She said this is a conference match and the Trojans really want to win this one and get a playoff position. She added, “The girls have the ability to win.” She noted, Mojave’s seen improvement this year.
With three games left until the midpoint of the season, the Trojans find themselves in a battle for the fourth playoff position in the conference.
The Trojans are tied with Cheyenne in fourth place and they are behind Spring Valley and Sierra Vista both at 3-1. Faith Lutheran remains undefeated at 4-0.
After the game, Coach Jill said the team was up and down a bit at first, and then became more mentally focused.
As they focused more, they got their serves in and their plays intensified. She was very pleased with the team, noting it’s a young team, with three sophomore starters.
The Trojans play at Clark next on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Clark is 1-3 overall and finds itself at the bottom of the league with Western and Mojave.
