The Lady Trojans continue to struggle offensively as they lose a close one to Clark at home 30-25.
Pahrump played the Chargers (2-8 overall, 1-1 Sunset League) tight in the first two quarters and at the half the Clark led by only two points.
Trojans Athletic Director Ed Kirkwood, said the Trojans (3-3, 0-2) played a tough game.
“We handled the press really well,” he said. “In the past, handling a press has been a problem. Now we just need to score.”
Trojans coach Jennifer Hagstrom said her team has a lot of heart.
“Lauren Ashford took a monster charge in Friday night’s game against Clark,” Hagstrom said. “She’s been fighting shin splints and a badly-pulled muscle, and still stood in there and took that charge. I think that pretty much sums up my kids. They work hard – period.”
Ashford was the defensive player of the game and Bethany Calvert was the offensive player of the game. Calvert led the team with 8 points.
One strength of this Trojans team is their defensive play. Great defensive play kept the girls in the game for the Chargers only had a four-point lead going into the fourth. Hagstrom has said in the past if the girls solve the scoring problem they will win some games.
Hagstrom added, “We might not be winning, but we are going to fight the whole 32 minutes.”
Pahrump will break for two weeks and come back and travel to Cheyenne (1-3, 0-1) and then their first home game is Jan. 8 at 5 p.m. against Western (4-1, 1-0).
