Trojans track runs strong at Arbor View Invitational

The Arbor View Track invitational for Trojans Coach Ed Kirkwood was supposed to be just an invitational for his team to sharpen its skills. He really did not expect that many teams to be there. He was wrong. The invitational attracted 19 men’s teams and 22 women’s teams last Friday at Arbor View in Las Vegas.

Trojans baseball goes 2-3 last week

It wasn’t the best way to start a four-game home stand, but the Trojans took game two of a four-game stretch, which started last Thursday and will end on Thursday of this week.

McDermott: Working hard to be the number 1 hurdler

Sophomore Meghan McDermott is in no hurry to run for the gold just yet. She is being patient and has her mind on putting in the time to beat the times set by last year’s queen of the hurdles of Pahrump Valley High School, Naomi Argabright.

The Trojans went up against a new and improved Clark Chargers. Clark in the past has been known for its consistently good long distance runners, but in the long run the Chargers were beaten by the depth of the Pahrump Trojans on both sides of the house.

Muckers baseball puts on hitting clinic for Beatty

The Tonopah baseball team took no pity on the Hornets when they visited Beatty last Friday. The Muckers beat them by scores of 20-0 in the first game and in the nightcap 12-1. With these two victories, they are 4-0-0 in league.

Golf continues to improve one stroke at a time

The Trojans golf team continues to improve with each match and have played two matches in the past week with good results.

Trojans Booster Club gets new leader

Lee Cortez is the newest Pahrump Valley High School Booster Club president who will be taking over for Denise Arceo. Arceo ran the club for two years and said she left the boosters to travel more with her family.

Track has good outing at Las Vegas Classic

A select few of the Trojans track team went to the Las Vegas Classic at Desert Oasis High School last Saturday. Trojans Coach Ed Kirkwood said not too many Division 1-A schools went because of the level of competition. He said the Classic only took the top 18 in each event. To medal at the invitational, the athletes had to finish in the top four. There were 25 teams at the meet, 17 Division I teams and eight Division I-A teams.

Lady Trojans have problem finding offense

The Lady Trojans bats went silent against the Cheyenne Desert Shields in their second home game and first league game in a 2-1 loss.

Kovatch’s walk-off single wins game

The game couldn’t have had a more fitting ending, a walk-off single to give the Trojans a 2-1 victory over the visiting club, the Cheyenne Desert Shields.
