Pahrump girls fall to Faith Lutheran

The Lady Trojans fell to Faith Lutheran on Tuesday 58-23. The Crusaders are ranked third in the conference and this loss was the fifth conference loss for the girls who are regrouping still after the serious injury to junior forward Jill Smith.

Smith went down last Friday to a knee injury in the game against against Western. She was one of the Trojans’ lead rebounders and will be hard to replace.

Despite the recent losses, the team remains upbeat, according to Trojans coach Jennifer Hagstrom.

“I would say the general overall mood has been upbeat, but frustration is creeping in at a more rapid pace,” she said. ” It should improve with Andi coming back tonight, and Jordan Egan will be able to play against Faith next Saturday so the girls are excited about that scenario.”

Hagstrom said the team has seen some great play from Alyvia Briscoe and Helen Vann. “Helen brings a lot of energy and potential to the position which makes the coaches optimistic,” Hagstrom said.

Bethany Calvert led the Trojans with six points in the Faith Lutheran game.

The Trojans (1-6 overall, 0-5 Sunset League) host Mojave (5-7, 1-3) tonight at 5:30 p.m.

The boys team fell to Faith Lutheran (10-3, 3-0) on Tuesday 70-22. The Crusaders are the second-ranked team in the conference. Danny Foss scored seven to pace the Trojans (2-10, 0-5). The boys host Mojave (6-6, 1-3) at 6:30 p.m.
