The second annual U-turn for Christ Golf Tournament will be on Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. at Mountain Falls.
The golf tournament benefits the U-turn for Christ Discipleship Ministry in Pahrump.
The tournament costs $75 to register per person or $250 per foursome. Contact Isaac Shook to register at 775-513-0525.
The fee includes golf, cart, lunch, and a raffle ticket. The start is a shotgun start and there will also be prizes for a hole-in-one contest, closest to the pin and longest drive. Also, there will be awards for the top three teams.
U-Turn for Christ is an organization that brings families back together after a family member gets addicted to drugs.
The tournament will benefit the organization’s new men’s ranch being built on the edge of town off of Highway 372. The money raised from the tournament will go toward the construction costs of building the new ranch.
There are currently 17 other ranches, but according to Pastor John Jimenez, the director of the new ranch in Pahrump, this is the first ranch built from the ground up. It is currently open for business and had its first open house last month.
U-Turn for Christ is sponsored by Calvary Chapel of Pahrump and is a residential drug and alcohol program dealing with men and women who are seeking restoration through God from drug and alcohol addiction.
Jimenez is still searching for sponsors.
“Last year we had Gary Bennett running the tournament,” Jimenez said. “He got us a lot of sponsors because he knew a lot of people from working at Mountain Falls. This year Gary has some medical problems and can’t help us. We need all kinds of sponsors for the prizes and food.”
