Mosh ball a complete success
Diane Roberts organized the Saturday mosh ball tournament and said it was a great turnout. Mosh ball is form of softball that uses a bigger and softer ball. She said funds raised will be given to the Sam Stringer Foundation, which was established in memory of Pahrump racer, Sam Stringer. The foundation gives out a scholarship to Nye County students each year.
“We raised $1,469 from six teams that competed,” Roberts said. “We had raffles going and concessions too.”
AYSO Region 808 accepting registration for the fall season
AYSO closes registration for the fall season which starts in September, on May 31. There will be dates in June where people can take their payment and paperwork down to the Bob Ruud Community Center.
The first dates for paperwork will be on Wednesday, June 1, 8 and 22 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., and then on Saturday, June 18 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
For the paperwork, one must take the birth certificate of player and payment of $100, (either cash or credit/debit cards will be accepted.) Volunteers must bring driver’s license. Call Ginny Berquist for more info at 775-513-1929.
Law Enforcement Torch Run will be on May 14 for Special Olympics. This is where the Olympians get to run with the torch as it makes its way to Reno for the Nevada Special Olympic Games in June.
The run is a fundraiser and Special Olympics will have a table at the Calvada Eye where the run starts. Runners should get there at 7:30 a.m. The entire run is 3 miles long and ends on Basin Road at the sheriff’s office. It’s a big deal for these kids. This will be the third annual Torch Run in the valley, which was started up again by retired San Bernardino Sheriff’s deputy Jim Soltz.
May 16 Football meeting for parents
Meeting will cover upcoming season and camp info. Starts at 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m in high school cafeteria.
