The Pahrump Valley High track team made the long trip to Boulder City on Wednesday worth the visit, with the boys finishing first in a five-team meet and the girls finishing second in a four-team meet.
The boys scored 125.5 points to best the host school (107.5), with Western (63), Laughlin (38) and Word of Life (14) rounding out the meet.
Trojans coach Wes Icard changed his lineup to maximize points and the Trojans sprinters, who had been quiet in the beginning, scored some points.
In the 100-meter run, junior Tyler Quinteros took third (12.19 seconds) and Devlin Dillon finished fourth (12.27).
Stephen Thelaner ran his first 400 and took fourth (59.88).
The Trojans runners then took first and second in the 800 meter. Bryce Odegard (2 minutes, 5.5 seconds) finished first and Dylan Montgomery (2:13.05) took second.
In the 1,600 meter, the Trojans took first and fourth place. Layron Sonerholm finished first (4:56.94) and Sergio Rincon finished fourth (5:16.82).
Sonerholm (11:06.14) took second in the 3,200 meter and Cole Goodman took third (11:36.89).
In the 300-meter hurdles, Nik Clark took first (44.74) and Nicholas Harris finished second (45.81).
Pahrump took first place in three of the following relays: 4×100-meter relay – 48.48 (DeAngelo Brown, Devlin Dillon, Jesse Dillon and Nickolas Redman), 4×400 relay – 3:47.91 (Clark, Montgomery, Odegard and Thelaner), 4×800 – 8:55.54 (Clark, Montgomery, Odegard and Sonerholm).
In the 4×200 the team took second – 1:41.79 (Nico Cipollini, Goodman, TJ Milk and Quinteros).
In the shot put, Jeremy Albertson finished second (38 feet, 08 inches) and in the discus he took second (139-05).
Devlin Dillon took first in the high jump (5-08.00) and Chance Farnsworth fourth (5-04.00).
Cipollini took first in the pole vault (11-06).
In the long jump, Nik Clark took third (18-04.00) and Devlin Dillon took fourth place in the triple jump (35-03.5).
On the girls side, host Boulder City dominated the meet with 175 points. Pahrump Valley took second at 97, with Western (33) and Laughlin (15) finishing out the meet.
In the 100-meter run, Kelsey Souza took second place (13.75) and second in the 200 meter (28.89).
Grace Gundacker took first in the 400 meter (1:10.65) and Jackileine Licea took fourth (1:17.70).
In the 1,600 meter, Alicia Quiroz took third (6:33.92) and she took fourth in the 3,200 meter (15:15.45).
In the 100-meter hurdles, Meghan McDermott took first place (16.25).
In the shot put, the girls took first and second. Caeli Havel threw a 30-06.00 for a first and Alyssa Begin finished second (25-04.00).
They both took first and second in the discus too. Havel was first (89-07.00) and Begin second (88-10).
In the high jump the Trojans took second, third and fourth. Annabelle Brophy was second (4-08), McDermott was third (4-06) and Begin was fourth (4-00).
In the long jump, McDermott was first (14-01.50) and Cynthia Martin finished fourth (12-01).
McDermott also finished in first in the triple jump (30-09.50). The next meet for the Trojans will be at Mojave on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
