The Trojans took their rushing game to Boulder City last Friday, where they met a perennial powerhouse game, but the Eagles this year have not been the running team they have been in the past.
The Eagles have been averaging 188.7 yards per game and 30.7 yards in the air. They run a power running game out of a double wing formation. The Trojans lost the game 14-8, but their defense effectively shut down Boulder City. The Eagles managed only 131 yards the entire game and 82 yards passing. The Eagles scored two touchdowns in the second quarter and were shut out for three quarters.
Even though Pahrump did not get the “W” the team still posted more yards on the ground than the Eagles at 211 yards. An interesting stat for the Trojans is last year they had 907 yards total and this year the Trojans’ ground game has 650 yards for just three games.
The Moapa Valley Pirates are the next opponent for Pahrump and they are 3-0. Moapa has a balanced attack, throwing for 163 yards per game and they rush for 211 yards per game. Surprisingly, the Trojans have out-rushed the Pirates 650 yards to 422 yards to date. Something unusual for the Pirates is their eight fumbles in three games. Their last game was a 35-6 victory over Mojave.
Look for two very physical ground games this Friday at Moapa at 7 p.m. The team who wins will be successful in the air.
