The Lady Trojans soccer team won its fourth game in a row and its first league game against Mojave, 8-0. The Trojans scored five goals in the first 15 minutes of the game.
Freshman Sydney Dennis had two in that scoring frenzy. She had three on the day. Paige Chafee was the other scorer with more than one goal. She had two goals.
Brittany Klenczar, a defender, even scored a goal on a header from a corner kick.
The Trojans improve to 1-0 in league and 4-1 overall.
The girls put pressure on Mojave the whole game. In the first half, the ball stayed on the Mojave side and the second half was the same. Mojave never had a shot on goal the entire game.
After the game, Trojans Coach Pam Larmouth said her offense and defense were progressing the way she wanted it.
She said she was going to need better competition though to prepare for faster teams.
“It was hard to see progress because this team was a lot slower than ours,” Larmouth explained.
“It’s the same issue we had before and I don’t want them to get used to having so much time. This year it’s not just Faith. We don’t know about Cheyenne and the other teams. I was happy with their speed to the ball and the way the team ran today. I am also happy about the camaraderie for they are working well as a team. They are moving back and forth together. I think even if we don’t get anything else out of this we are team building.”
The Trojans had their second major injury up north in Spring Creek. Alyssa Turner, a senior defender, hurt her knee in the last game.
Larmouth said she would be missed and she is hard to replace on the field.
According to Turner she will be undergoing an MRI this week to determine if she will miss any more games. She said her knee was stiff and she had a hard time bending it.
Larmouth said Jamie Murphy was doing well taking Turner’s place and her coach was pleased with her performance in the last two games.
Klenczar said the defense had to adapt to some changes since turner was out.
“We had to change one of our wings to go into the center position because we need to control the center of the field. If you can’t control the middle, then you can’t win the game. Jamie is in the middle and doing a good job,” she said.
Senior Paige Chafee was pleased how the offense was performing. “Our offense has grown a lot in the last four games. We are faster and there is more movement,” Chafee said.
The next game for the Lady Trojans is on the road at Clark on Friday at 3 p.m.
Boys Soccer
The Trojans had an away game at Mojave and lost 8-4. The team drops to 0-2 in league play.
The team played Adelson on Monday and lost 6-2, but due to a clerical error by the Trojans, the junior varsity team played that game.

Trojans Coach Don Boulden kept his comments short and said, “It was just a good day for Mojave.”
