The Trojans wrestlers traveled to Mojave last Wednesday and soundly beat the Rattlers 67-6.
The varsity team’s thirteen wins included eight pins, five of them in under two minutes, and three in under four minutes. The other varsity wins were with one major decision, three decisions and one forfeit. Varsity lost only one match.
After beating Mojave, wrestling Coach Craig Rieger said, “I do like this senior group that’s been around for four years—all the hard work, the morning practices and never taking a day off besides Sunday. I just feel like they’ve worked like wrestlers should, and it pays off every year for them. We have a goal—that state tournament, and I said, we’re not going to stop until that state tournament’s done.”

Senior Joseph Zarabozo at 106 pounds beat his Mojave opponent with a pin in 1:19. Zarabozo’s season record stands at 14-9.
Sophomore Nathan Trudeau at 113 pounds is the youngest and least experienced wrestler on the Trojans varsity team. He lost his match by a pin. His season record stands at 4-11.
Junior Gino Gusman at 120 pounds pinned his Mojave opponent in 1:35. Gusman’s season record stands at 16-3.
Junior Antonio Sandoval at 126 pounds pinned his Mojave opponent in 1:42. His season record stands at 15-5.
Senior Nick Nelson at 132 pounds pinned his Mojave opponent in 3:57. Nelson’s season record stands at 8-4.
Senior Levi Gundacker at 138 pounds soundly beat his Mojave opponent with a major decision of 11-1, after one takedown, two near falls and one reversal. Gundacker’s season record stands at 14-7.
Senior Sam Brophy at 145 pounds beat his Mojave opponent with a decision of 13-6, after one takedown, two reversals and two near falls. His season record stands at a stellar 17-2.
Senior John Clark at 152 pounds beat his Mojave opponent 11-9 in overtime. He had two takedowns, two reversals and one near fall. Clark’s season record stands at 7-8.
Senior Anthony Vega at 160 pounds beat his Mojave opponent by decision 11-9. He had one takedown, four escapes and two near falls. Vega’s season records stands at 4-3.
Senior Samuel Tucsnak at 170 pounds pinned his Mojave opponent in 2:30, after three takedowns and one near fall. Tucsnak’s season record stands at 20-6.
Senior Jonathan Corrow at 182 pounds won his Mojave match by forfeit. Corrow’s season record stands at 19-5.
Senior Jax Clayton at 195 pounds pinned his Mojave opponent in 2:28. Jax’s season record stands at 20-3.
