The Trojans scored late in the first on a Parker Hart one-yard scamper into the end zone, but that first touchdown was about all the Trojans could muster with the exception of a Joey Sladek 37-yard field goal to end the first half.
The Trojans (3-3 overall, 0-2 Sunset League) fell to Cheyenne 42-10.
Pahrump was in the game at the half 24-10 but just couldn’t get anything going in the second half.
“We had some penalties that really held us back and we had some turnovers,” Trojans quarterback Parker Hart said. “The loss was a little bit of everything.”
Hart was pressured all night long and fumbled on a drive after the half that looked like a Trojans score.
Senior running back Case Murphy also injured his hand after only rushing for 21 yards. Nickolas Redmond had the longest carry of the game for the Trojans at 78 yards.
The Trojans offense was not firing on all cylinders and rushed 38 times for 152 yards. Hart passed 12 times with only four completions for 34 yards and had one interception and that was the extent of Pahrump’s offense.
Cheyenne (3-3, 2-0) did a good job of pressuring and possessing the ball. The Desert Shields tallied up 407 yards of offense, 27 rushes for 185 yards and QB Matt LaBonte threw for 222 yards and three TDs. The Cheyenne offense did what the Trojans were trying to do, possessing the ball to keep the other offense off the field.
The Trojans will host Sunrise Mountain (3-3, 2-0), who is undefeated in league play, on Friday at 7 p.m and it will be our homecoming game.
