Trojans scoring goes flat against Mountain Lions

The ball hit the net for Trojans volleyball as Jill Harris’s team stumbled at Sierra Vista.

The Trojans volleyball team (4-5 overall, 0-1 Sunset League) opened league play against the Mountain Lions (3-8,1-1) on Wednesday after a promising showing at the Las Vegas Invitational two weeks ago and fell in three matches, 25-9, 25-12 and 25-23.

Harris didn’t think her team would stagnate in the two weeks because she said her practice sessions had been pretty intense, but regardless, Pahrump scoring went flat after the time off.

Sierra Vista’s win-loss record doesn’t reflect the quality of the teams they played, as they have played some top-ranked teams in the past two weeks, losing to two Division I teams, Green Valley and Centennial and then Faith Lutheran.

During the game, Jill Smith had 9 assists and Alexis Trieb and Koral Hearn each had 4 kills.

The Trojans’ first home game will be at 6 p.m. on Friday against Spring Valley (6-1, 1-0) and then they have another home game on Sept. 24 at 6 p.m against Western (3-1, 1-0).
