Tail’s End pet party huge success thanks to volunteers and staff

Tail’s End, the Animal Shelter for Nye County, would like to thank our friends and neighbors who came out to support our Christmas Party “From Our Pups to Your Pups” on Saturday, December 13 at Tail’s End including all the wonderful people who volunteered their time for the day. Thanks to the efforts of all the shelter staff and volunteers, the day was a huge success.

Thank you to Andrea Phipps for the loan of the canopy, chairs and tables, they really did help our visitors and gave them places to sit while they were playing with the puppies that were available for adoption.

An additional special thank you goes out to the staff and volunteers from the Shelter who came out on their own time to lend a hand with our visitors, dogs and cats. And thank you to Dr. Anthony McCorkle who joined us to do low-cost shots. The entire community appreciates the opportunity to take care of their pets.

Although the initial goal of this fun event was to introduce the community to Tail’s End, The Animal Shelter for Nye County, it ended up being an adoption marathon starting the day before and ending the following Monday – in all 12 dogs/puppies went to forever homes.

All of the adoptive families are deeply appreciated by Tail’s End staff and volunteers and especially by the adopted new four-legged family members. It is because of the kindness, generosity and compassion of these special people that our pets can look forward to a long happy life in wonderful homes here in Pahrump.

Tail’s End is a 501©3 non- profit Animal Shelter, it is our goal to match people with the perfect four-legged forever friend, but we also function as the Animal Shelter for Nye County adding the influx of lost/stray dogs, cats, puppies, kittens and assorted other animals, custody dogs and cats as well as quarantined animals. Needless to say we have animals coming and going very nearly minute to minute 7 days a week.

If you are interested in donating to Tail’s End, your gift is tax deductible. Our tax ID number is 26-1424911. If you would like more information about Tail’s End or would like to volunteer, please call Tonya at 775-751-6310.

Sincerely,

The Staff and Volunteers of Tail’s End Animal Shelter

Trump, Biden spar over coronavirus, character in last debate

The debate presents the last chance for both hopefuls to woo undecided voters in face-to-face rhetorical battle. Watch the livestream here.

DAN SCHINHOFEN: Let’s talk about the peaceful transition of power

For nearly 250 years the United States of America has had a peaceful transition of power in our government. Of course after Lincoln was elected the Democrats seceded from the Union, but other than that, when one party lost power in the House or Senate or the executive, the position of president or speaker of the house has been handed over without bloodshed or rancor.

TIM BURKE: My favorite season is fall, but not this year

The change from the summer to the fall season is always one of my favorite times of the year. In a normal, non-COVID-19 world, children would head off to school, our youth would be participating in fall sports, and many local events would be held for our community to attend.

DEBRA J. SAUNDERS: Lockdown hazard

DEBRA J. SAUNDERS: Mike Pence’s calm conservatism

With his no-drama demeanor during the vice presidential debate Wednesday, Pence showed America how Trump would look if he acted like a politician: like a president.

Is this ‘cartoon existence’ really living?

As I was binge watching the last season of “The Blacklist”, I was surprised it only had 19 episodes. What was stranger was a few minutes into the 19th episode they cut in with cast and crew telling us that they were in the middle of filming when COVID-19 restrictions kicked in. After making sure to tell us to be safe and other platitudes, they then went back to the show, but half of it was cartoon and the other half live action.
