KNYE Radioathon a huge success

On Tuesday November 19, KNYE Radio with Karen Jackson held a Radiothon to benefit RSVP Programs. The response has been marvelous, so many people in our community called in and pledged monetary support to help us keep our local programs alive.

A very special thank you to Karen Jackson, Kay &Everett, Butch and the many, many good people of our community who want to help us help others.

We have so many seniors in our community, some of whom helped to build this town. Some of whom may now need a helping hand. They live here, support the businesses in town and deserve our support in turn. Hats off to the people of Pahrump for the wonderful comments, the offers of assistance and the monetary support for RSVP programs.

Thank you to Matt Ward, Editor of PV Times, Selwyn Harris, reporter for PV Times for the write-ups and articles that help to keep people aware of the needs of the community.

Thank you all.

Jim Hartman: Troubled country should remember first July Fourth

President Donald Trump got what he wanted for July 4 — a patriotic celebration honoring America and featuring the United States military branches with aircraft flyovers and fireworks. Trump was at the center of attention speaking from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Dan Schinhofen on border issue: Migrants or an invasion?

One of the congresswomen from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, said something the other day that embarrassed me and I found to be over the top. She compared the holding facilities, that are being overwhelmed at our southern border, to concentration camps.

Dennis Myers: Understanding the arrogance of computer people

I’ve had contact with a lot of computer people over the years, so when I saw a Quora discussion on “Why are a lot of programmers so arrogant?” I tuned in and read comments like this: “Because they ‘believe’ that they are smart and special, but they never realize for a sec that being able to write code does not give them the privilege to be rude to other human beings.”

Tim Burke: Democrats are driving the political bus in Nevada

Yesterday was the Fourth of July holiday. Also known as Independence Day, we celebrate what took place July 4, 1776, annually as a day that represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.

Dennis Myers: Cheapo quality of life surveys are pointless

Back in the 1980s, a friend of mine, who had left journalism to go into public relations, called me to sell me on doing a story about how, according to a survey, Reno was one of the most reading-est cities.
