Beatty’s Strozzi VFW post hosting annual poker run

The Poker Run is on Saturday and will kick off with a VFW pancake breakfast from 7-9 a.m., and then registration for the run will be from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. and the cost is $25. Proceeds this year will benefit the Tonopah Search and Rescue teamand the local radio club. Both organizations have helped out with the run for the past three years.

Veterans Stand Down event returning to Home Depot parking lot

In the heat of battle during wartime, exhausted combat units regularly need time to rest and recover. That action is known as a “stand down.” Though no such battles are taking place in Pahrump at present, local veteran organizations feel the need to assist the area’s homeless veteran population, with a community version of a stand down.
