I couldn’t decide what to make for Cinco de Mayo. I’m on a diet so I have “off limit” treats only on special occasions. You see the importance of this decision. I passed on the nachos, burritos, tacos, enchiladas, margaritas, even the cervezas.
Let’s talk about polenta! Polenta is a versatile staple made from ground corn that can serve as an appetizer, side or main dish, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It can be seasoned sweet or savory. Serve soft, like mashed potatoes, or cool and slice into pieces. It can even be baked crisp into fries!
Summer’s right around the corner this means it’s time to plan your vacation. While some families spend thousands of dollars on their getaway, an increasingly popular trend is choosing a stay-at-home vacation or staycation.
Every hiker who has heard of it dreams of walking the Bright Angel Trail, the famous footpath that snakes from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon all the way to the Colorado River on the canyon floor, with spectacular scenery almost every step of the way.
To celebrate Mother’s Day and honor the influential women in your life, may I suggest serving Afternoon Tea?
The public shouldn’t have any problem finding something to do this weekend. The calendar is full.
The big ticket item for this weekend is the annual Social Powwow at Petrack Park which begins Friday afternoon. The grand entrance will be at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Another busy weekend is in store for residents wanting to get out and about. It includes a new place to see Tom Saitta, an all-weekend music jam in Tecopa and a VFW Ladies Auxiliary fundraiser at Saddle West.
Ms. Senior Golden Years U.S.A., Inc. is hosting the “Vets Swing” dance beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Mountain Falls.
It’s going to be a packed weekend even without live music at the Nugget. For the second weekend this month, the Stagebar Lounge will be dark. However, Mason Dixon is on the schedule for next weekend.
A great number of options for entertainment are happening this weekend, such as added music, a lecture, an artist’s reception and a Latin Nights event, and that’s just for starters.
Although a lot of entertainment is on the calendar for this weekend, the one that is not would be live music at the Pahrump Nugget Stagebar Lounge.
