Valley Electric Association officials are warning area residents about an ongoing scam, presented as a VEA “promotional contest.” The scam claims the utility is conducting a drawing for a $1,000 Walmart gift card to the “lucky winner.” VEA representatives contend they are not offering a contest at present. Those who encounter the offer are urged to call the Nye County Sheriff’s Office at 775 751-7000.
