Administrator answers request for governor’s help for Tonopah

Dear Mr. Fleetwood:

I am in receipt of your letter dated, February 16, 2016 and appreciate your advocacy for the citizens of Nye County, especially for seniors living in Tonopah. I too am concerned about access to health care for all Nevadans and understand the extra challenges in rural areas of the state.

As the Administrator of the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, I oversee multiple programs that provide support and assistance to vulnerable populations. I am committed to further investigating your concerns and will assign dedicated staff to this solution.

Currently, the Division of Public and Behavioral Health’s Rural Community Health Services program is in the process of co-locating behavioral health and community health nursing in a county-owned building in Tonopah. We also remain open to all opportunities to partner with the community in coming up with answers to improve access to care to include using this clinic location to house an itinerant primary care physician.

Thank you for reaching out to me to notify me of this important issue.

Sincerely,

Cody Phinney

MPH Administrator

Dept. of Health and Human Services

Division of Public and Behavioral Health

A special Silver Tappers thank you

The Nevada Silver Tappers (The Ambassadors of Pahrump) would like to extend a very special thank you to their Executive Director, B. J. Hetrick-Irwin, Barb Villa, The Lakeview Golf Course, their staff, all of the golfers, and those who donated their time to the successful 3rd annual Golf Tournament sponsored by the Tappers.

The proceeds have already been donated to a Wounded American veteran whose well had run dry and the other half to the Ms. Senior Golden Years USA Pageant to be held on July 9th at Saddle West Hotel and Casino.

Without the assistance from all of those listed above, we would not have been able to fulfill our dedication to enhancing the lives of seniors and those less fortunate in our community.
