Lady Trojans softball rout Clark at home
The Lady Trojans out-hit and out-pitched visiting Clark on Thursday in a 14-3 rout.
Trojans coach Eli Armendariz said Clark (0-3 overall, 0-2 Sunset League) was no match for his team.
“I only started one varsity player that game,” he said. “And that was the pitcher, Krista Toomer.”
Armendariz said it was just a good time to play his junior varsity.
“This game gave me a chance to look at players for next year,” the coach said.
Toomer pitched 3 innings, giving up 3 runs in the third. She was relieved by Virginia Weir, who pitched two scoreless innings.
“The only reason we gave up those three runs was because of an error, which scored three unearned runs,” Armendariz said. “Toomer did a great job pitching.”
Armendariz said the first two conference games were easy compared to what was to come.
“We have the meat grinder coming up as we play Spring Valley (5-2, 2-0) next Tuesday and then Sierra Vista (6-0, 2-0) on Wednesday,” he said. “We got swept by both teams last year.”
This year though, Armendariz expects a little different outcome.
“I think defensively we are a different team than last year,” Armendariz said. “Hopefully, we can hit their pitching better than last year.”
Pahrump (7-2, 2-0) has no games scheduled this week due to the Clark County School District spring break, but will resume play next week.
