Beatty spikers fall to Alamo in 3

The Beatty volleyball team ended its season in the semifinal regional playoff game against Pahranagat Valley in 3 matches (25-7, 25-11 and 25-11).

The Hornets finished 13-10 overall and 5-3 in league play for a fourth place in Division-4.

The Alamo team will play the number two seed, Eureka, at Coronado High School at 8 p.m. The Panthers finished at 28-2 overall and 8-0 in league play. Tonopah will play the number one seed from the North, Smith Valley at 6:20 p.m.

Hornets Coach Dale Lerbakken said he was pleased overall with the season.

“Sad to say we ended our season against PV and could not get our serves in. But we volleyed with them, taking and giving hard hits. Claudia Granados and Anel Gamboa played real well, being most consistent with their serves and their hits. I feel we had a real successful season with as young of a team as we had. They are only going to get better so onward and upward we go. I was glad two girls made all-conference, Maggie Cathcart (Honorable Mention) and Christina Thompson (Second Team). In the next few years we should have a lot making first and second team,” Lerbakken said.
