As usual, during the cooler months, there are more and more opportunities to be entertained.
Although the Point of Rocks walking trail in Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge can be used for watching bighorn sheep, there will be a little after-dark gazing at the stars from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 18. The group will meet at Point of Rocks Spring. The event is free.
Autumn is the time of year when we love for our décor to reflect the change of season. The natural textures of twine, dried leaves and burlap are all the rage. It’s also time for lots of entertaining. One side effect of entertaining can be lots of empty glass bottles.

As the cooler weather begins to creep in showing signs of fall, and the sizzling heat of summer has passed, Pahrump is once again gearing up to host the annual Pahrump Disabilities Outreach Program Pumpkin Days event Oct. 24 from 3 p.m to 9 p.m., Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ian Deutch Memorial Park.
An early Christmas shopping event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25 in the Artesia Community Center on the south side of Pahrump. It also includes a bake sale.
