Commission takes another look at Leslie RV park

TONOPAH — Nye County Commissioners will consider a request for a master plan amendment and zone change at a 55-acre site at 600 S. Leslie St. where Rene Morales, managing member of American Eagle RV and Resorts LLC, has plans for a 231-slip recreational vehicle park, during a 10 a.m. meeting Wednesday.

The request is to rezone 32 acres from rural estates to general commercial and change the master plan designation for the entire 55 acres from mixed use and low density residential to general commercial. It is a timed item scheduled for 11 a.m.

Commissioners will also consider a request by Millennium Investments LLC for a master plan amendment and non-conforming zone change on 1.98 acres at 3090 E. Mickey St. near Lakeside Casino, for an RV park.

The county commissioners normally meet the first and third Tuesdays of the month, but last Tuesday’s meeting was postponed due to the election and next Tuesday is the Veterans Day holiday. The meeting can be viewed by video conference from the county commissioners’ chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Dr. on the Calvada Eye in Pahrump.

In other business, a bill will be considered that will make it a crime punishable by up to a $1,000 fine or six months in jail for making a false report to any Nye County Animal Control officer or sheriff’s deputy which causes the officer or deputy to conduct an investigation.

A bill amending the Nye County Code deleting the Pahrump town board representative on the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission is up for approval, as the current Pahrump town board will cease to exist Jan. 5, 2015. Commissioners will consider setting the date for a future public hearing on a bill amending Nye County Code deleting the review authority by county commissioners to RPC decisions on conditional use permits.

Commissioners will review requests for Community Development Block Grants.

Belaluz Solar LLC has requested a minor master plan amendment and zone change for 75.97 acres at 6631 N. Sharpe Ave. and 6630 N. Crest Ave. at the far northeast corner of Pahrump, for a photovoltaic solar project.

A contract with Wulfenstein Construction to perform a Superpave surface treatment to Calvada Boulevard between Blagg Road and Red Rock Drive is up for approval.

The board will consider filling an open deputy position in Tonopah; a deputy for the Pahrump DARE Program and filling a vacancy for a deputy transferred to a vacated position in Mercury. Funding from a vacant deputy justice court clerk position would be used to hire two deputy justice court data clerks under another item. There is also a request for a new budget technician.

A cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy to do water sampling of the Underground Test Area at the Nevada National Security Site is up for approval. A cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for the Brownsfield Coalition assessment is up for approval.

A bill adding special use permits to Nye County Code will be heard.

Commissioners will consider accepting a fiscal year 2014-15 Justice Assistance Grant to help pay for two existing, full-time narcotics detectives and fully pay for a part-time office assistant.

A resolution protesting U.S. Bureau of Land Management action in Recapture Canyon is up for approval. The commission will also consider a proclamation declaring Nov. 14 as Grant Gerber Day, in honor of the Elko County Commission public lands advocate who recently died.

Commissioners will canvass the results of the Nov. 4 election.

A $1 per parcel assessment on taxable property in the Pahrump Valley groundwater basin to fund the state engineer’s office will be considered.

The adoption of the Nye County Solid Waste Management Plan is on the agenda. A date will be set for the adoption of the Pahrump master plan. Commissioners will also set a date for a public hearing on a bill amending a development agreement with PV Land Investments LLC.
