Four new inductees added to Pahrump Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame

Four new members will be inducted to the Pahrump Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday to bring the total members to 64.

The hall of fame was established in 2007. The first year they had 15 inductees, according to Rod Poteete, who was one of the original board members.

This year the inductees will be Daniel Daffer (1981), Angelo Santovito (1982), Tanya Hibdon Pike (1992) and Mark Findley (1996).

The inductees will be announced at the Trojans football game against Del Sol during halftime. All four inductees should be there for the game. They will then be inducted on Saturday at a dinner in their honor at the high school.

Daniel Daffer

Daffer attended Pahrump Valley from the fall of 1977 and graduated in the spring of 1981. He played football all four years, elevated to varsity his sophomore year. He played both offensive guard and defensive linebacker. He set a new record for tackles his senior year. He was team captain and most valuable player. His freshman year, he was on the junior varsity basketball team. The next year the wrestling program was started and Daffer chose to wrestle and he lettered in wrestling the next three years. His junior year, his second year wrestling, he took state in the 175-pound division. Daffer was Pahrump Valley’s first state wrestling champion. His senior year he took second at state.

Angelo Santovito

Santovito attended Pahrump Valley from 1978-1982. He was an outstanding athlete who played football, basketball and wrestled. He played football all four years, making varsity his junior year. He was the quarterback and led his team to the state playoffs his junior year. He set records for passing and received all-league and all-state honors. He started out his freshman year wrestling and then switched to basketball the last three years.

Tanya Hibdon Pike

Tanya was the outstanding athlete for her class of 1992. She was a four-year letter earner in volleyball and was named to the division first team and all-state team her senior year. She lettered in basketball three years, earning first all-division her junior and senior year. Tanya was a three-sport athlete and played softball in the spring. She lettered in softball two years. She was the Letter Club vice president her junior year and president her senior year. Tanya was also on the All Nye County Academic team her senior year.

Mark Findley

Mark Findley graduated in 1996. He moved to Pahrump his sophomore year, when his dad came to coach football. Mark excelled in sports and was a great asset to our program. He lettered in football three years, basketball two years and baseball two years. He received many honors, making first team all-state in football and first team all-conference in basketball and baseball. He had a season record in football with 61 receptions with 1017 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Statistics and biographical information were provided by the nomination committee for the Pahrump Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The following people are on the committee: Trina Daffer, Rachel Owens, Craig Rieger, Mike Floyd, Steve Nygaard, Janelle Veloz, Maggie Vill and Larry Goins.

The process for nomination: There is a Hall of Fame Committee that reviews the school records and assesses the individuals and recommends nomination from the committee members. The community can also contact members of the committee and suggest nominations and the committee will discuss the nominations and review their school records. You must be out of school for five years before you are eligible for nomination.
