Longtime Pahrump Valley racer passes away

Longtime Pahrump racer Steve Nash passed away last week due to a heart attack on May 12.

The Pahrump Valley Speedway plans pay tribute to Nash and his family during halftime on Saturday, May 20.

Racing will start at 7 p.m. at the speedway, which is at 1881 Grieco Way.

“During halftime we will do some parade laps,” speedway ownwer Chad Broadhead said. “He was a very knowledgeable guy and has been racing at the track at least 12 years.

“He was a good racer and competitor and just an incredible guy,” Broadhead said.

Nash raced in the Super Stock division and won his last race on May 6, Broadhead said.

“He wasn’t even supposed to be racing,” Broadhead said. “The doctor had told him he was not supposed to race due to his heart. That’s how dedicated to racing he was.”
