The Pahrump Valley baseball team has stamped their ticket to the Nevada 3A state baseball tournament next week after defeating the Boulder City Eagles 9-4 on Wednesday afternoon.
This year’s 1,581-mile ride will begin and end in Salt Lake City, Utah beginning on Saturday, April 29 and finishing up on Friday, May 5. The tour includes stops in Beatty, Pahrump and Tonopah.
The team was 2-7 and had lost six consecutive games going into their matchup with the Panthers.
The Muckers’ game against the Panthers was their first action on the court since mid-December when they defeated the Beatty Hornets in the Kody Beach Memorial tournament.
The game was supposed to be used to get Pinecrest students excited for their homecoming festivities over the weekend, but the Trojans had other ideas on their minds.
The Nevada state horseshoe championships took place in Hawthorne at Lions Park where 27 pitchers from around the state gathered to participate in the biggest tournament of the season.
The event featured four schools from the Southern Nevada area – Pahrump Valley High School, Liberty High School, Desert Oasis High School and Slam Nevada.
The horsehoes competition had 20 participants making up 10 teams in a double-elimination style tournament.
