Youth bowlers crowned summer league champions

The game was over before it even began for Cristo Rey St. Viator, as the Pahrump Valley Trojans raced to a 70–20 home victory Wednesday night.

Pahrump Valley is heating up at the right time. The Trojans cruised to a 50–17 victory over Cristo Rey St. Viator on Wednesday night, securing third place in the division.

Admist the score, PVHS girls basketball head coach Bob Hopkins never lost his smile as the Trojans honored their longtime coach’s 76th birthday following the game.

One of Pahrump’s longest-running rural traditions is set to return this February as the annual Pahrump Jr.High–High School Rodeo brings three days of competition to the McCullough Rodeo Arena from Feb. 6–8.

Trailing by double digits early and down five at halftime, Pahrump Valley never panicked. The Trojans flipped the momentum late Wednesday night with the efforts of Sheppard, Briscoe and Gavenda, amounting a 54-48 comeback league victory.

Still searching for their first regular-season win against Democracy Prep, the Pahrump Valley Trojans opened Wednesday night with a defensive stand full of grit and promise, but the Blue Knights found their rhythm in the second half and cruised to a 33–0 victory.

Known locally as the “Pink Panther” for his signature bright pink goalkeeper gear, Cowley’s dedication, resilience, and family support have propelled him from multi-sport youth athlete to state-recognized star.

Pahrump Valley’s wrestling team made its long-awaited return home one to remember, rolling past Somerset Losee 98-28 on Jan. 16 while honoring seniors during a dominant Senior Night performance inside the PVHS gym.
