The public information below was provided by the Nye County District Attorney’s office.

• Jordan Lee Tapp was charged on July 15 with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (schedules I and II); possession of firearm(s) by certain person prohibited; and conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substances act, all felonies.

• Miguel Angel Perez was charged on July 8 with possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

• Nickima Danielle McGriff was charged on July 7 with possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

• Ronald Yunker was charged on June 23 with child abuse and neglect, two counts, a felony.

• Michael Joseph Maughn was charged on June 28 with failure to appear after admission to bail, a felony.

• Jason Christopher Miranda was charged on battery with use of a deadly weapon on an older person, robbery from an older person, coercion involving force, all felonies and battery on an older person, a gross misdemeanor.

• Charles Ramos. Jr., was charged on July 11 with grand larceny and burglary, both felonies; and obtaining money under false pretenses, a misdemeanor.

• Brenda Hellen Garrison was charged on June 24 with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (schedules I and II), first offense, a felony.

• David Alan Metcalfe was charged on July 8 with attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon on an older person; battery with use of a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm on older person, six counts; abuse of an older person with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm; resisting public officer with use of a deadly weapon; and habitual criminal, all felonies.

• Lila Ashmore was charged on July 8 with accessory to attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon on an older person; accessory to battery with use of a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm on older person, seven counts; preventing or dissuading victim, person acting on behalf of victim, or witness from reporting crime, commencing prosecution or causing arrest, all felonies.

• Antonio Carrillo was charged on July 15 with trafficking in a schedule I controlled substance; conspiracy to violate the uniform controlled substance act; offer, attempt, or commission of unauthorized act(s) relating to controlled substance, first offense; and possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.

• Kerry Laraine Brouillette was charged on June 22 with unlawful use of a controlled substance, a felony.

• Riley William Mitchell was charged on July 21 with indecent or obscene exposure, a gross misdemeanor.

• Daniel Roarke was charged on July 11 with discharging a firearm where person might be endangered, a gross misdemeanor; and possession of a firearm when under the influence of alcohol, controlled substance or other intoxicating beverage, a misdemeanor.

• Jesse Michael Crain aka Jesse Michael Crain-Schroeder, was charged on July 14 with possession of dangerous weapon, first offense, a gross misdemeanor; and obstructing a public officer, a misdemeanor.

• Bart Christiaan Floris Oors was charged on July 21 with duty of driver to decrease speed under certain circumstances, a misdemeanor.

• Heather Marie Morrow-Byrd was charged on July 18 with domestic battery and obstructing a public officer, both misdemeanors.

• Karen Elaine Lockamy was charged on May 17 with excessive noise, a misdemeanor.

• James Robert Petta was charged on July 8 with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense; driving on highway having multiple marked lanes for traffic; and driving without a valid license, all misdemeanors.

• Roland George Anderson was charged on July 8 with vehicle entering intersection marked ‘stop’ or ‘yield’, a misdemeanor.

• Mary Alice Chambers was charged on July 8 with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

• James Steven Carder was charged on June 24 with contributory delinquency, a misdemeanor.

• Toni DeAngelis was charged on June 24 with possession of drug paraphernalia and vehicle entering intersection marked ‘stop’ or ‘yield’, both misdemeanors.

• Lashunnia Dreher was charged on July 8 with obstructing a public officer, a misdemeanor.

• Leonard F. Gelzaines was charged on July 8 with battery, a misdemeanor.

• Joseph Michael Provenza was charged on July 18 with battery and theft, both misdemeanors.

• Kwanzaa Sitaffa Njaka was charged on July 8 with domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

• John Michael Shelton was charged on July 15 with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

• Edith Angel-Garcia was charged on July 15 with battery, a misdemeanor.

• Jacob A. Noel was charged on July 18 with resisting public officer, a misdemeanor.

Circus coming to Pahrump

The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley is sponsoring the Hugo, Oklahoma-based Culpepper and Merriweather Great Combined Circus which is coming to Pahrump at Petrack Park on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. There will be two 90-minute shows each day at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with a free tent-raising and behind-the-scenes tour starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Meet the new manager for the Nye County Animal Shelter

A little more than a year and a half ago, the new 79-dog capacity no-kill Nye County Animal Shelter opened and promptly received a baptism by fire a few days later when more than 300 abused and neglected Caucasian shepherds were seized, overwhelming the facility’s capacities and resources, and capturing national headlines. These days, the shelter has returned to its normal intended function but with new leadership in place.
