Pahrump Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) and activities for the week of Aug. 1 – Aug. 5. Two percent milk and juice available daily:

Monday – Chicken Tettrazini, mixed veggies, broccoli salad, pudding, black bean soup;

Tuesday — Chef’s salad, whole wheat roll, carrot and celery sticks, mandarin oranges, cake, soup;

Wednesday — Tamale pie, Mexican corn, coleslaw, Tex-Mex beans, fruit cup, soup;

Thursday — Pork chop, au-gratin potatoes, green beans, salad, carrot cake, northern bean soup;

Friday – Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, spinach, salad with tomato, whole wheat bread, fruit cup, soup.

Activities

Monday — Exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; beading class, 12:30 p.m.; poker, 12:30 p.m.;

Tuesday — Exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.; haircuts, 1 p.m.;

Wednesday — Crafty Ladies, 12:30 p.m.;

Thursday — Exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; Rippets (knitting/crocheting), 10 a.m.; haircuts, 1 p.m.;

Friday — T.O.P.S. meeting, 7 a.m.; exercise class, 9:30 a.m.; bridge, 12:30 p.m.

Amargosa Valley Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Aug. 1 – Aug. 5:

Two percent milk available daily. Meals are served at the Amargosa Valley Senior Center from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Breakfast served from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Monday — Tuna noodle casserole, mixed vegetables, sliced tomatoes, whole wheat roll, grapes;

Tuesday — Turkey fajitas, Spanish rice, ranch style beans, chopped spinach, low fat/low sodium French dressing, pineapple chunks;

Wednesday — Herb baked chicken, brown rice pilaf, sweet peas, mixed fruit;

Thursday — Baked meatloaf, mashed potatoes, steamed spinach, lettuce and tomato salad, low sodium French dressing, whole wheat bread, peach butter, Chantilly fruit cup;

Friday — Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, fresh fruit in season, orange juice.

Beatty Senior Center

The menu (subject to change) for the week of Aug. 1 – Aug. 5:

Two percent milk available. Meals are served at the Beatty Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday and Thursday.

Tuesday — Turkey fajitas, Spanish rice, ranch style beans, chopped spinach, low fat/low sodium French dressing, pineapple chunks;

Thursday — Baked meatloaf, mashed potatoes, steamed spinach, lettuce and tomato salad, low sodium French dressing, whole wheat bread, peach butter, Chantilly fruit cup.

Circus coming to Pahrump

The Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley is sponsoring the Hugo, Oklahoma-based Culpepper and Merriweather Great Combined Circus which is coming to Pahrump at Petrack Park on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. There will be two 90-minute shows each day at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with a free tent-raising and behind-the-scenes tour starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The spring count of the Devils Hole pupfish, one of the world’s rarest fishes, showed that the population is at its highest since the spring count taken in 1999.
