Trojans need fans to make long trip for playoff game; student bus available

Trojans Booster Club president Cindi Colucci is putting out a call for all Trojans fans to travel to the football team’s game on Thursday at Moapa Valley High at 7 p.m.

This will be the first playoffs for the Trojans football team since a 2012 appearance against Moapa Valley.

Trojans football announcer Mick Colucci talked about how the fans helped the team beat Sunrise Mountain in the beginning of October.

“I had talked to people from Sunrise Mountain after the game and they said the players had a hard time hearing and that’s why there was so many penalties at the end of the game,” Colucci said.

Cindi Colucci said that she wants as many fans out there as possible to show the team some support by making the trip. Of course, she relizes that she is asking people to make the 120 mile trip on a Thursday night, but said it was for the team.

“Moapa Valley is an old rivalry,” she said. “We used to play them a lot and I know they will bring it. We want a lot of Pahrump fans, old and new.”

She said the booster club will be giving away noisemakers and pom-poms to as many fans as possible.

“If you come out, come a half hour early so we can hand out Trojans pom-poms and noisemakers,” Cindia Colucci said.

The booster president said she was on the phone all day Monday trying to get a bus to take fans out to the game.

“The school district only has a limited amount of activity buses available for the game on Thursday and it looks like they are all used up,” Cindi Colucci said earlier in the day.

There will be a student bus

But there was a breakthrough in the afternoon. She said the school district was able to get one bus free by having one team share a bus with the junior varsity team.

“We now have a bus for the students to go, the bus will have room for 50 students,” she said.

Students that wish to attend the game need $10 total, $5 for the entrance fee and $5 for the bus ride. They are also required to have a signed permission slip.

The permission slips and money need to be taken to the athletic secretary, Kendra McCauley.

“Right now there are plenty of spots open on the bus,” she said.

But of course that’s as of Tuesday morning, so the spots are filling up fast.

Students and adults can also call Cindi Colucci at 775- 209-4157 and she has a list of people that are going to the game and can give rides.
