More horseshoes coming to Fall Festival in Pahrump

Saddle West Casino and the Pahrump Dust Devil Horseshoe players hosted a fun horseshoe pitching event at Petrack Park on July 1.

Nine Sanctioned NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitching Association) players participated.

Local player Mike Nicosia received first place in the A division, making him tournament champion. Second place went to Arizona women’s state champion Trisha Hoshaw.

Winning first place in B division was first-time nationally sanctioned player from Pahrump, Matthew Whittaker.

Pahrump holds three or more nationally sanctioned horseshoe tournaments per year and a number of non-sanctioned tournaments including the Fall Festival.

The Fall Festival event, sponsored by the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, is planned for Sunday, Sept. 24. Sign in by 9 a.m. at the horseshoe pits or the Chamber of Commerce trailer in Petrack Park.

Everyone is welcome to play. Contact Vicky Hilling at the chamber for more information at 775-727-5800 or Mike Norton at 775-537-0542.

Some pitchers are usually playing at noon on Saturdays in the Petrack Park pits between the pool and the fire station. People are welcome to come and join in.
