Gas prices drop in Nevada; still remain among highest in nation

Retail gas prices have dropped 7.2 cents per gallon in Nevada in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com.

Although prices dipped some, the $2.42 average per gallon cost is the second-highest rate in the United States behind only California with a $2.77 per gallon average.

Nevada is also one of only seven states in the country with an average cost higher than $2.06.

Prices in some parts of Nye County are lower than the state average, while others are slightly higher.

In Pahrump a gallon of gas ranged from $1.99 to $2.50 per gallon for regular as of press time Tuesday afternoon, according to GasBuddy.com, while in Beatty gas prices per gallon range from $2.45 and $2.59.

The national average is $1.90 per gallon, down 6.5 cents from last week and 17.2 cents from last year, according to GasBuddy.com.
