Blagg Road settlement up for approval

TONOPAH — A settlement agreement with Utilities Inc. of Central Nevada over the failure of an off-site trench for the Corrections Corporation of America federal detention center is up for approval when Nye County commissioners meet at 10 a.m. here Tuesday.

The meeting can be viewed by video conference at commissioners’ chambers at 2100 Walt Williams Dr. on the Calvada Eye in Pahrump.

In other business, commissioners will consider the county manager’s selection for a planning director to replace Bobby Lewis, who was laid off last month after just being hired in September.

Members are due for appointment to the Nye County Water District Governing Board whose terms expire June 30.

Commissioners will vote on a resolution over the actions of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge, the subject of a lawsuit by the Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI) over the diversion of a stream flow that affected the Patch of Heaven church camp.

The renewal of brothel, liquor and gaming licenses for the 2014-15 fiscal year is up for approval. Dollar General has requested a temporary package liquor license for their new store at 2750 N. Highway 160. El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant, 251 S. Frontage Rd., is requesting a retail liquor license.

A resolution adopting the town of Beatty area plan is up for approval.

Commissioners will vote on whether to approve the final report from the Nevada Land Management Task Force, which was commissioned by the 2013 Legislature to look into transferring federal lands to the state.

A teleconference has been scheduled at 8 a.m. today at commissioners’ chambers to pass resolutions augmenting the budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year which ends Monday, directing the 2014-15 fiscal year tax levy, final budget presentations and approval of department budgets.
