Horsford to lead VA tour, cancels Pahrump event

U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev., will lead newly-appointed U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald on a visit to Veterans Administration facilities in Las Vegas Saturday and had to cancel a planned “Coffee with the Congressman” at the Pahrump Starbucks.

Horsford was also planning to hold a town hall meeting with Pahrump senior citizens as part of a Senior Rseource Fair Saturday afternoon at Inspirations Senior Living Facility. The senior fair and the Housing Helpdesk at the NyE Communities Coalition Saturday morning will still proceed, with numerous agencies on hand to help local residents.

“I look forward to speaking with Secretary McDonald about the issues facing Nevada’s veterans,” Horsford said in a prepared statement. “These local visits are essential to identifying the challenges VA hospitals are currently experiencing and to ensure that our veterans receive the timely and quality care they deserve.”

McDonald’s visit to Las Vegas comes after he signed off on paperwork to permit the construct a new VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic in Pahrump.
