COPS: Man leaves ID behind, gets arrested for DUI

Police were called to a report of an accident at Valley Electric Association parking lot on Sept. 17.

A security guard, employed by VEA, who witnessed the accident approached the man and asked for his identification.

Timothy Karns handed it to the guard and immediately left the area and began walking in the direction of Highway 372 and Bolling Street towards the Horizon Market parking lot.

When police made contact with the security guard, he reportedly explained that Karns appeared intoxicated and he witnessed Karns back his pickup into a phone box, back over the rocks before he parked in a parking stall.

As police spoke with the security guard, they reportedly observed Karns at the Horizon Market looking around the corner towards the accident scene.

Police subsequently made contact with Karns who reportedly said he left the scene because he was intoxicated.

Police noted that Karns’ eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred. When police advised Karns he would be performing field sobriety tests, he refused.

Karns was placed into custody and transported to the jail where he was booked on charges of driving without a license, driving under the influence, and failure to stop at accident with property damage.

COPS: Man discharges gun to get rid of unwanted partygoers

Police were called to a local residence on Sept. 22 regarding a report of gunfire. As police were responding, they received subsequent information from the reporting party that a white vehicle had left the residence.

Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the two females inside the vehicle who explained they left the party after the homeowner started shooting a gun into the air and they feared for their safety.

Police subsequently made contact with the homeowner, identified as Cordero D. Webster, at his residence on Firebird Circle.

Webster was arrested after police questioned him about the gun ire.

Webster explained that he had a party with about 40 people in the house and he wanted them all to leave so he took out his handgun and began firing to scare everyone.

As police spoke to Webster, they reportedly smelled alcohol emitting from his person and his eyes were bloodshot and watery.

Webster was arrested, transported to the jail and booked on charges of discharging a weapon where a person might be in danger and possession of a gun while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

COPS: Fight results in injuries, instigator has no memory

While police were on patrol in Petrack Park during the Fall Festival they received a report of a fight between two males. The female reporting party stated that two males came up behind the victim, struck him in the head and proceeded to kick and punch him. When the witness attempted to intervene, Joseph Whitney shoved her out of the way and continued hitting the victim.

Whitney was arrested on Sept. 25 after police made contact with him and advised him of the allegations. Whitney reportedly told police he had nothing to do with any fight.

When deputies made contact with the victim, they reportedly observed injuries consistent with a fight. The victim was unable to remember anything about the fight.

Police summoned medics to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. He was later transported to a hospital in Las Vegas.

Whitney was charged with battery with substantial bodily harm.
