Man jailed for domestic battery, strangulation

Kevin Armstrong was jailed Dec. 27 and charged with battery, domestic violence, strangulation, second offense, obstructing and resisting and criminal contempt after Nye County Sheriff’s deputies observed multiple vehicles in the parking lot of Paddy’s Pub on Pahrump Valley Boulevard driving carelessly and with no headlights.

As deputies arrived in the parking lot, they reportedly observed approximately 10 to 15 people get out of their vehicles and begin yelling at each other in an aggressive manner. Deputies noted that one of the individuals who was continuing to be belligerent was identified as Armstrong.

After leaving the area, deputies were dispatched to return to a report of a fight on Ironton Street involving 15 people or more.

Upon arrival, deputies observed Armstrong yelling and arguing with people around him at the residence. When deputies attempted to gather information from Armstrong he reportedly became verbally aggressive and failed to comply with deputies ‘commands.

Deputies noted that at one point, Armstrong reportedly stepped in front of another deputy in an attempt to prevent the deputy from entering the residence.

Deputies discovered that Armstrong had gotten into a verbal altercation with the victim who was Armstrong’s girlfriend.

Armstrong reportedly became angry with his girlfriend and wrapped his hands around her neck and lifted her up from the floor, slamming her into the wall of the home which started a larger fight inside the residence, according to the arrest report.

Armstrong was subsequently arrested and transported to the Nye County Detention Center and booked.

Deputies noted in the arrest report that Armstrong had recently been released from the jail on an own recognizance release with a requirement of no negative contact with law enforcement.

Man jailed after family brawl

Anthony Guy Gonzalez was jailed and charged with domestic battery with a deadly weapon Dec. 27 after police were dispatched to a report of a possible battery on Gamebird Road.

Deputies made contact with the reporting party who reportedly said that his brother-in-law had attacked him while attending an event on Gamebird Road, according to the arrest report.

Deputies observed cuts to Gonzalez’s face and blood on his person.

When deputies made contact with the victim and questioned him about the events, he reportedly said that Gonzalez was yelling at him and allegedly hit him in the face with a beer bottle. The victim said that after being hit he attempted to defend himself.

Deputies reportedly observed cuts on the victim’s face as well as bruising, and reportedly observed a broken bottle in the area where the fight occurred.

A witness reportedly corroborated the victim’s story.

Gonzalez was subsequently arrested and transported to the jail and booked.

Woman arrested for driving under the influence

Maria Ann Campbell was arrested Dec. 27 and charged with driving under the influence after deputies observed her vehicle enter Linda Street from a private driveway without using a turn signal.

Deputies observed the vehicle turn east on Wilson Road from Linda Street and quickly accelerate with estimated speeds of 55 mph in a 45 mph zone.

After deputies utilized the overhead red and blue lights, the vehicle reportedly still failed to yield or stop and proceeded northbound on Big 5 Road, eventually stopping at the intersection of Diamond Bar and Round Up Court.

The driver, identified as Campbell, exited the vehicle and walked towards the deputies’ patrol vehicle.

As deputies were speaking to Campbell, they reportedly smelled an unknown odor of intoxicating liquor coming from her person as she spoke.

Campbell reportedly admitted to consuming two drinks prior to law enforcement contact.

Campbell reportedly agreed to perform field sobriety tests which she failed, according to the arrest report.

A preliminary breath test was done which resulted in a .204 percent.

Campbell was arrested and transported to the jail where she was booked.

Woman jailed for criminal contempt

Renee D. Alkire was jailed Jan. 2 and charged with criminal contempt and trespassing after police were dispatched to an address on Gamebird Road regarding a report of a trespass.

While police were en route, dispatch reported that the reporting party was the victim of an ongoing domestic violence case which included a charge of discharge a firearm within a structure and harassment. Police noted that the person listed as the suspect was Alkire.

When police arrived at the residence, they reportedly observed a female standing in the driveway who was subsequently identified as Alkire. As deputies spoke to Alkire, they reportedly noted that she was intoxicated, exhibiting signs of intoxication which included red, watery, bloodshot eyes, slow, slurred speech which, at times was confused.

Deputies also noted that Alkire reportedly had the odor of an unknown intoxicating liquor emanating from her breath. According to the arrest report, Alkire spontaneously stated, “Yeah, I’m not supposed to be here, so I’m going to jail.” When questioned about her statement, Alkire reportedly said that she was told by the court not to be on the property.

The victim confirmed that Alkire is his ex-wife and was told by the court not to have any contact with him or to come back to the residence.

Deputies subsequently confirmed this information by speaking with Judge Ron Kent via telephone.

Alkire was arrested and transported to the jail and booked.
