Mild weather expected for Halloween

Mother Nature will deliver the Pahrump Valley a treat Halloween night with mild temperatures for trick-or-treaters.

The high temperature Saturday will reach 77 degrees with a low of 51 degrees under mostly cloudy skies according to meteorologist Chris Stachelski of the National Weather Service. Expect temperatures around the low 60s with light winds around sundown when children will begin make their way door-to-door collecting candy.

The rest of the holiday weekend will be equally as nice, as Sunday will have a high temperature of 76 degrees with a low temperature of 52 degrees and Monday will see a high of 68 and a low of 46.

Stormy weather moves into the area Tuesday with a slight chance of showers beginning in the afternoon.

Also, don't forget to turn those clocks back an hour Sunday morning at 2 a.m., as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end. Treat yourself to an extra hour in bed and set your clocks back before you go to bed to enjoy that extra 60 minutes of sleep.

According to NASA, Benjamin Franklin is credited with the concept of Daylight Saving Time. The idea is to utilize daylight hours more efficiently by moving the clock forward in the Spring and shifting it backward in the Fall. Daylight Saving Time begins on the last Sunday of April and ends on the last Sunday of October each year.
