Woman arrested last week on slew of charges wanted in Texas

Hamlett has national felony warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a minor

A woman arrested on 16 charges last week has one bigger charge looming over her after it was discovered that she has a nationwide felony warrant out of Texas.

Jessica Hamlett was arrested on Dec. 24 on several counts relating to credit/debit card fraud and drugs and originally was known as "Jane Doe" after giving Nye County Sheriff's deputies four different names and social security numbers. One of those names and numbers positively identified her.

After finding out Hamlett's name and running it through the nationwide database it was discovered that she had a nationwide felony warrant out of Texas for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

On Dec. 24, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a woman sleeping in a grey Jeep Cherokee with no license plate.

The deputies discovered Hamlett as the occupant of the vehicle with whom they had a run-in a day prior, and when ordered out of the vehicle multiple debit and credit cards fell from her lap to the ground.

After consenting to a search of her vehicle, police found multiple debit and credit cards, along with checks with various names on them.

In addition, deputies found two hypodermic needles, one fully loaded with a white, clear substance resembling methamphetamine, a glass pipe with residue, one counterfeit $100 bill, miscellaneous burglary tools and a stolen Nevada license plate.

After the discovery of the items, Hamlett claimed that she had loaned her vehicle out and knew her vehicle was used to commit mailbox thefts.

Hamlett was charged with 16 counts, including four counts of obtaining/possessing credit/debit card without the cardholder's consent, obtaining money/property under false pretenses and various charges related to drug and paraphernalia possession, among others. She is being held at the Nye County Detention Center on $73,750 bond.

Man arrested on felony drug charges after false reporting of crime

Suspect allegedly attempted to ditch bag of meth

A Pahrump man was arrested Monday on felony drug charges after he allegedly falsely reported a crime to the Nye County Sheriff's Office.

Nathan Hill called the sheriff's office claiming that he was being held at gunpoint in front of his residence on the 4200 block of W. Hardy Lane while someone attempted to steal his vehicle.

Upon arriving at the scene, Hill approached the responding deputy and told him that the suspects had fled the area, according to police. He then said that they might be in his backyard.

The deputy immediately detected a strong slur in Hill's speech when speaking with him and while they were walking toward the backyard to investigate if anyone was back there, the deputy heard the sound of pills being tossed around in a pill bottle in Hill's pocket.

The deputy told Hill to stop and questioned him if he had any pills on his person, to which Hill confirmed that he did have some in his pocket.

After being questioned about the pills, Hill had his hands in his pockets for a period of time, and slowly pulled two bottles of pills out of his pocket, one was a sleep aid and the other was empty.

After pulling out the bottles, Hill requested that they go inside because his Xanax had fallen out into his pocket.

While inside, Hill presented the deputy with the pills that were in his pocket and said, "You guys can search my house if you want to, I just have these pills," according to police.

The deputy noticed a yellow ring around Hill's mouth and that his pupils were extremely dilated and his eyes were bloodshot while speaking with him inside the residence.

Hill said that he may have been hallucinating due to taking too much of his prescription drugs at the time he called in the alleged holdup.

When the deputy was exiting Hill's residence he observed a small baggie with a crystal-like substance in it outside near the front door. The substance appeared to be methamphetamine and when the responding deputy questioned Hill about the discovery he admitted that he would crush meth up and snort it.

The deputy told Hill that he believed that he dropped it there on purpose and told them to search his house in order to divert attention away from the drugs. Hill denied that claim, police said.

Police took Hill into custody and transported him to the Nye County Detention Center.

Hill was preliminarily charged with possession of a schedule I substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and destroying/concealing evidence and is being held on $8,140 bond.

Man on parole arrested for domestic battery incident

Pushed girlfriend to ground; fought male defending woman

A Pahrump man who was on parole was arrested on New Year's Eve for a domestic violence incident.

Deputies from the Nye County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a fight in progress on the 200 block of E. Hamilton St. on Dec. 31. While en route to the area dispatch notified deputies that the suspect in the alleged fight, Mckenzie Ross, fled the scene heading eastbound.

The responding deputy arrived at the scene and made contact with three females and one male.

All four explained to the deputy that Ross was highly intoxicated and began to argue with one of the females who was his girlfriend, police said.

The parties' stated that Ross shoved his girlfriend to the ground during the argument, to which the male party stepped in front of Ross. Ross then struck the male victim on the jaw and they began to fight.

While the two males were on the ground fighting, one of the females told another to call 911, to which Ross got up and fled the scene.

A sheriff's deputy discovered Ross in Comstock Park and took him into custody. The police report states that Ross appeared to be highly intoxicated and that he urinated on himself in front of the arresting officer.

The male victim had injuries to his jaw and was unable to open his mouth all the way due to swelling, had a hard time speaking and was purple in the lips, according to police. The man was advised by medical personnel to have an X-Ray done on his jaw to see if it was broken.

Ross was arrested and preliminarily charged with domestic battery with substantial bodily harm, domestic battery and violation of conditions of parole and booked in to Nye County Detention Center.
