Nye man dies while serving time at Vegas facility

An inmate from Nye County passed away over the weekend at one of its Las Vegas facilities.

Robert James Keil died Sunday morning at 8 a.m. at Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas.

Keil was serving 19-to-48 months at the Casa Grande Transitional Housing facility in Las Vegas for possession of a controlled substance.

According to Fifth Judicial District records, Keil was sentenced in March 2014 in Pahrump.

The Clark County coroner said Tuesday that Keil’s cause of death is pending. Keil’s next of kin have been notified.
