Numerous safe community Halloween gatherings scheduled
There’s no shortage of safe, Halloween-themed events throughout the weekend in the community.
On the south end of town, Big Dick’s Pizza is hosting its own Halloween events at their 3971 E. Kellogg Road location on Saturday.
Owner Mike Cappa said he’s hoping for a good turnout from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“There will be games and prizes, along with fun activities for the kids to participate in,” he said. “In our parking lot, we will have a trunk-or-treat for the children to do some trick-or-treating all decked out in their costumes.”
Cappa is also seeking adults who would like to participate in the event.
“We are also looking for cars old and new that would like to come join us in our first annual Trunk-or-Treat,” he said. We’d like them to come and decorate their vehicle and pass out candy to our community’s little ones. We are currently taking reservations for spaces. Just contact Big Dick’s Pizza at 775-751-3425.”
Cappa did not forget the grownups, who also want to carouse on Halloween.
“We have a great Halloween party for adults on October 29, starting at 8 p.m.,” he said. “There will be a costume contest along with karaoke and great drink specials. We will also have Jell-O shots and fabulous food specials.”
Two area parks will be the venue for more Halloween celebrations.
A Light in the Dark Pumpkin Fest is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Ian Deutch Memorial Park at the corner of Honeysuckle and Dandelion streets.
Organizers said visitors can expect to see a costume contest, a talent show, raffles and much more, including a glow-in-the-dark dance show.
There will be tricks and treats for all, as well as food vendors. Admission is free.
All proceeds generated will be donated to install lights in the skate park area of the park.
A Trunk-or-Treat event will take place Halloween night at Petrack Park’s parking lot from 4 p.m. until all the candy is gone.
The event is sponsored by the town of Pahrump and the Castaways Car Club.
Officials want families to check out the variety of classic cars and grab a treat from the trunks during the event.

On Saturday, Pahrump Valley Auto Plaza is hosting its third annual Halloween Trunk or Treat Safe Night inside their showroom.
Haunted mazes, booths, games and of course candy will be the order of the day.
Costume contests complete with prizes will round out the event, from 5 to 9 p.m.
Pahrump Valley High’s Interactive Club is joining to assist in the celebration. Pahrump Valley Auto Plaza is located at 2060 E. Charleston Park Ave.
