Silver Tappers benefit show returns to Saddle West on Saturday
A much-anticipated annual holiday event returns on Saturday, Dec. 10.
B.J Hetrick-Irwin and the Nevada Silver Tappers Holiday Benefit Show is scheduled for 3 p.m. inside the Saddle West showroom.
The event is no ‘flash in the pan’ performance, as the show is now in its 26th year.
Hetrick-Irwin said Saturday’s performance will feature some local high-profile talent, along with a few new additions.
“Steve Elliott is our master of ceremonies,” she said. “The opening overture will be performed by Billy Moran and our good friend Tom Saitta will play ‘Taps.’ The Nevada Silver Tappers will open the show with a performance called ‘Jingle my Bells.’ It’s a community event where you get to meet a lot of great people here in town and we have some local children who will perform ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas.’”
Upward of 20 various performances are on Saturday’s bill.
Admission is $10.
Hetrick-Irwin’s co-performer, Mitzi Sears, just happened to drop a few additional names in the entertainment world.
“Billy Moran, who is now retired has performed all over the world with a lot of different singers, including Paul Anka, Wayne Newton and the Castro sisters and many others. We also have another performer who will sing for us and he has starred in such movies as ‘Throw Mama from the Train’, ‘Mr. President’, and ‘Memory In My Heart’. He’s appeared in lead roles and has won several awards. His name is Bill Watson and he’s just a terrific singer.”
The theme of this year’s show is “Celebrating our Military Heroes.”
Monies raised from the show will benefit area veterans.
Hetrick-Irwin said she and the Silver Tappers are anticipating a large turnout this year.
“We really want folks to pack the showroom,” she said. “We are also going to perform something that nobody’s ever seen before. The venue is wonderful and the good people at Saddle West have dealt with me for 26 years. We will have 18 Silver Tappers performing, provided they stay well. We are only doing one show this year because we’re old.”
